Synopsis: Struggling to memorize her report about the female reproductive system, Maria was asked to take care of her father’s chicken in preparation for its upcoming cockfight.

Statement: The film tells a story of sexual abuse within a family, juxtaposed with the father’s gambling addiction and Maria’s struggles in her school report about the female reproductive system. The father’s attachment to the animal, a chicken, symbolizes how abusers see their victims. On the other hand, Maria’s report represents her struggle to disclose such abuse.

The decision to tell the story subtly through semiotics and symbols relies on the filmmaker’s thought of not transpiring trauma while watching the film. All elements of the film were utilized to help visualize trauma from the sexual abuse instead.
