Synopsis:

This is the story of Dr. Jose Paciano Laurel — statesman, jurist, legislator, lawyer, musician, and philosopher who served as president of the Second Philippine Republic (1943-1945). As one of the primary authors of the 1935 Philippine Constitution, he greatly instilled democracy and Filipinism and advocated Philippine independence to form a new nation. Historically misunderstood as a war-time collaborator, Dr. Laurel is depicted in the film as a president who made crucial decisions during the tumultuous Japanese occupation. Based on the “War Memoirs” of Dr. Laurel written in his own hand while in Sugamo Prison in Japan as an American prison of war, it highlights the man who struggled the tightrope for the protection of his beloved Filipino people.
